Huis Marseille was founded in 1999, making it Amsterdam’s first photo museum. With quarterly changing exhibitions, every season, a new look at the photography and versatility of this medium is being thrown. In the era of captivating image culture and ubiquitous cameras, Huis Marseille focuses on the image. Not only see, but really looking.
The original 17th-century layout of the house is still largely intact three hundred years later: with a front house, courtyard, backhouse and garden.
From September 9 until December 3 there will be an exhibition (Landscape with Tree) in Huis Marseille of Jamie Hawkesworth (1987), a British photographer who has risen to great height in the fashion world, with campaigns for, among others, Vogue, MiuMiu and Loewe.
